Part 3

On the way back the SquealMobile decided that enough was enough. First the temperature gauge went up, then the check engine light came on, and then the temp gauge went all the way down.

WTF?

The next thing I knew was that the engine was losing power. Hmmm, not good. Better switch on the emergency indicators, turn off the engine, and pull over on the hard shoulder. Hmmmm, white smoke behind the car... Hmmmm, this smells like burning coolant...

Stranded

Hmmmm, ugly puddle of barfed fluids underneath the car... Can anyone say "headgasket"?

Oops

Called the lease company, they called the ANWB (yellow angels/ADAC) who had already seen me coasting along on the hard shoulder, they confirmed the "this car isn't going anywhere under it's own power" diagnosis, and called a recovery truck to bring it to a closed lot waiting for transport to the dealer on Monday. With minutes to spare I made it to the local grocery store to buy some cheese and corned beef for my German bread and drive home in a Ford Fusion.
